Paisley will host a national event aiming to change perceptions of people recovering from alcohol and drug use. The Recovery Walk Scotland event, organised by the Scottish Recovery Consortium, will take place in the town centre on Saturday 24 September between 11am and 4pm. The event opens with a poignant ceremony of placing roses into the White Cart river in remembrance of friends and family lost to addiction, then there will be a procession through the town, starting at Bridge Street and coming back round to Abbey Close.
Local communities in Renfrewshire, and around the world, are coming together to remember those who have died or suffered permanent injury due to drug overdose.
Work to improve the existing health centre site in Bishopton is now complete. The refurbishment programme has focused on reconfiguring the existing building to make better use of the available space.
Christine Laverty has been appointed as Chief Officer of Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) and will take up post on Monday 25 April. Christine was appointed as Interim Chief Officer in June last year and has expertly led Renfrewshire HSCP through the coronavirus pandemic.
Work to improve the existing health centre site in Bishopton will begin on Monday 28 February. The programme will create additional accommodation space for the centre and will develop enhancements to general consultation rooms, clinical rooms for both the GP practice and community-based health and social care services.
Paisley's St James Medical Centre is set to close on 31 March 2022. Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) has taken this decision following a period of consultation that considered a range of potential options for the future of the GP Practice.
