People from Bishopton, Dargavel and the surrounding area are invited to an open event to get first sight of the proposed design for the new health and social care facility, currently being developed for the area.
Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) will host an engagement event on Monday, 15 May 2023 at 'The Cornerstone', Church of Scotland, Greenock Road, Bishopton, PA7 5JW. Anyone interested in attending is welcome to drop-in at any time between 2pm and 6pm on the day.
Visitors will be able to view details of the proposed layout and operating options for the new facility. They will also be able to leave comments on the proposed design and have the opportunity to suggest the best name for the new building. Members of the project team will be on hand to discuss aspects of the proposed design and to answer questions.
Anyone who is unable to visit on the day will have further opportunities to view the proposed design and leave comments. From Tuesday 16 May 2023, the information boards will be on display at the existing Bishopton Health Centre. The information will also be published on the Renfrewshire HSCP website (https://www.renfrewshire.hscp.scot/) for a further two weeks.
This exciting new facility was commissioned as part of the wider programme to improve the delivery of health and social care services in the area.
The design being proposed for the new facility takes account of the current projected population increase in the area. In addition, the design has flexibility built in and could be further extended to allow for any future population increase, if required.
With the appointment of Hub West Scotland as development partners, Holmes Miller as architects and Fleming Construction as main contractor, construction is expected to begin during 2023 with the building scheduled for completion within 12 months.
In 2022, the existing GP Practice, Bishopton Medical Practice, underwent an extensive refurbishment. This has already provided additional capacity.
Once the new satellite facility is complete, it will provide additional space and flexibility for the GP Practice, as well as enabling more options for health and social care services within the area.
Christine Laverty, Chief Officer of Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) said: "This project is an exciting development for health and social care services within the area, and I am keen we make sure the local community is kept up to date with progress.
"This is the first opportunity we have had to share the designs being put forward. I hope people from across the community can come along to familiarise themselves with the details.
"Members of the design team will be available on the day to listen and to provide answers to any questions that may come up. I hope, in this way, we can build a good understanding across the community of how our plans are progressing in our aim to provide the best health and social care services that meet community needs into the future."
